Teen charged with second-degree murder in Stewiacke death appears in court

A show cause hearing began Wednesday for the 17-year-old boy charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 46-year-old man in Stewiacke last week.

The proceedings, including the names of those involved and the evidence presented, are covered under a publication ban.

Colchester District RCMP responded to a 911 call of a disturbance at the home on Main Street East around 3:30 a.m. Friday

Police say they located a 46-year-old man with life-threatening injuries, and a teen was arrested at the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital in Truro, where he was pronounced dead.

The teen made his first appearance in Truro Provincial Court on Monday, where the charge was formally read.

His show cause hearing is expected to wrap up Friday afternoon.
