Teen faces several charges following collision involving stolen vehicle in Eastern Passage
A 17-year-old boy is facing a number of charges following a collision involving a stolen vehicle on Cow Bay Road in Eastern Passage last Sunday.
RCMP say they responded just before 6 a.m. to a motor vehicle collision involving a stolen 2015 Volkswagen Passat, which they add was taken from a home on Edgecombe Crescent in Cole Harbour earlier that morning.
They say the driver had struck the curb, disabled the vehicle, and then fled into nearby woods where he was later arrested.
Officers also report that several unlocked vehicles in the area were entered and items such as change and cell phones were taken, while one vehicle had its window damaged after the suspect broke it and stole a bag of knitting supplies.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to a number of charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and trespassing at night.
RCMP say other charges are pending.
Anyone with information about this incident or other crimes involving thefts from vehicles is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
