Three charged following Springhill fire

The RCMP say three people from Springhill have been charged after a suspicious fire at the abandoned Lamp Cabin Dining Room and Lounge last month.

The Springhill Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene at 4:30 a.m. on August 3rd.

The investigation led police to search a home in Springhill on September 4th, where they say evidence was discovered and one person was arrested, while two others were taken into custody later the same day.

Twenty-six-year-old Donald Forbes is charged with arson, break and enter, unsafe storage of a firearm, and two counts of possession of stolen property, and the two 17-year-old boys are each charged with arson and break and enter.

Forbes appeared in Amherst Provincial Court on September 5th and was released on conditions, with his next court date scheduled for October 1st.

The teens were released to their guardians and are due to appear in Amherst Youth Justice Court on December 5th.

RCMP say charges against another man may be pending.
