Three pianos donated to New Glasgow following vandalism of community piano

Three pianos have been donated to the Town of New Glasgow after a popular outdoor community piano was recently destroyed by vandalism.

Geralyn MacDonald, Director of Community Economic Development with the Town of New Glasgow, tells our newsroom the three pianos are from Pictou County and that a moving company has volunteered to transport them to the town.

The exact locations of these pianos and the dates for when they will be unveiled to the community has yet to be determined, but MacDonald says they should be in place by next spring.

She also says safety surveillance technqiues will be considered before they are introduced to the community.

New Glasgow Regional Police Constable Ken MacDonald tells our newsroom it was an irresponsible act of vandalism that damaged the piano, which took place sometime between Sunday morning and early Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact New Glasgow Regional Police at 902-752-1941 or Crime Stoppers.
