Timberlea man faces charges of sexual assault, making child pornography

A 35-year-old Timberlea man is scheduled for sentencing next month on charges of sexually abusing a girl with a disability and making child pornography.

The Local Xpress reports the man recently pleaded guilty in Halifax provincial court to a number of charges including sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, making child pornography available to others, and unsafe storage of firearms.

He was taken into custody in March after Halifax Regional Police launched an investigation into a report that someone in the area was a victim of child pornography.

The Local Xpress says the man’s name has been banned from publication in order to protect the identity of the victim.
