Tory Rushton nominated for PCs in Cumberland South
The Progressive Conservatives in Cumberland South have chosen their candidate for the upcoming by-election.
The PC party says in a news release that electrician, Oxford Fire Chief, and community leader Tory Rushton secured the nomination in Springhill on Saturday.
Progressive Conservative Leader Karla MacFarlane says Rushton will be a strong voice for the people in the region and make a great MLA because of his work ethic and his ability to listen.
Three other candidates had been vying for the nomination including Oralee O'Bryne, Maxwell (Mackie) Ross, and Marchel Strong.
The by-election date for Cumberland-South has yet to be announced.
In late January, Jamie Baillie was forced to quit as PC Party leader and Cumberland South MLA after an investigation found he acted inappropriately and breached the legislature's policy on workplace harassment.
