Trial underway for double-homicide in Hants County in September 2000
A new trial for a former Colchester County man, whose two first-degree murder convictions were overturned over three years ago, is underway in Kentville Provincial Court.
Leslie Douglas Greenwood was charged in 2010 with the September 2000 murders of 48-year-old Barry Kirk Mersereau and 47-year-old Nancy Paula Christensen, who were shot to death in their Centre Burlington, Hants County home.
CBC reports one of the fourteen jurors was excused Tuesday morning, leaving thirteen to hear the six-week case.
Greenwood was convicted after a trial in Kentville in 2012, but the convictions were overturned by the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal in September 2014 because of the use of hearsay evidence in the first jury trial.
Two other men pleaded guilty in the case, Michael Lawrence and Curtis Blair Lynds.
