Truro boundary extended to include all of Millbrook First Nation
The boundary for the Town of Truro has been modified to include all of Millbrook First Nation, eliminating questions over where the county line ran.
Mayor Bill Mills says it caused confusion for many residents of Millbrook First Nation, as some lived within the town's boundary while others were in the Municipality of the County of Colchester.
Mills says the three sides entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2018 to approach the Utility and Review Board about modifying the boundary.
Chief Bob Gloade says the question was raised often during municipal elections as to why some residents were voting for a county representative when all their agreements and services were coming from the town.
He says the partnership with Truro goes back to 1972, when a municipal services agreement was signed and it has grown to include fire, water, sewer, and sanitation services.
The announcement about the modified boundary was made during Monday's meeting of Truro Town Council.
