Truro changing water main flushing program
Truro's water main flushing program is being knocked back to an annual operation.
Director of Public Works Andrew MacKinnon says the spring flushing has become redundant as the winter water quality no longer creates pipe conditions that warrant it.
A report to council states that in addition to cutting the expense of the spring operation, switching to a single flushing in the fall will "significantly improve" the Water Loss Management Program.
He did tell council Monday that Public Works needs a more comprehensive main valve maintenance replacement program.
