Truro council receives update on bow and cross-bow hunting in the watershed

Truro's Chief Administrative Officer says some 48 hunters have registered for bow and cross-bow hunting in the watershed area.

Mike Dolter told council Monday that the season ends December 9th, and staff will be surveying hunters to determine the number of animals taken.

He says there have been very few issues raised since the start of the hunt on October 15th.

Dolter adds that this has made the town more aware that people have been in the watershed area for years, not to hunt but to access other areas of Colchester County.

The town is also looking at finalizing the "Don't Feed the Deer" signage, which was presented to council Monday.

Dolter says Andrew Mackinnon, director of Public Works for Truro, is organizing a road survey for later this month where the town will look to run weekly counts of deer on designated urban roads.
