Truro Herbal Company set to begin construction on cannabis production facility in August

Construction is set to begin this month on a state-of-the-art agricultural facility in the Truro Industrial Park.

A news release from the Truro Herbal Company (THC) says it has awarded a contract to Lindsay's Construction for the development of the 20,000 sq. ft. cannabis production facility on the company's 6.3-acre lot.

Ron Meech, who oversees THC's construction committee, says they are working towards an "aggressive construction schedule" to see its completion by early 2018.

The release also says the company has added to its current round of capital financing, raising to date $4.7 million in new cash and commitments.

THC President and CEO Evan Price says these investments will allow the company to "to emerge as a premium producer of industry leading cannabis products in Atlantic Canada."

Following the project's completion, an inspection by Health Canada will serve as the final step for THC in becoming Nova Scotia's first licensed producer of medical cannabis.
