Truro postal workers off the job

Local postal workers have joined the nationwide rotating strikes.

In a call to our newsroom, Craig Power, Secretary Treasurer of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers Truro local says his members are striking to promote issues of health and safety and pay equity.

One-hundred workers from Tatamagouche to Enfield will be on picket lines for at least 24 hours, with Power adding the strike could be pro-longed at the discretion of higher ups in the union.

The union says postal workers in New Glasgow, Pictou and several other Nova Scotia communities are also striking today.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers began twenty-four hour rotating strikes in communities nationwide on October 22.
