Truro's Brett Lauther nominated for two CFL awards in first round of balloting

Saskatchewan Roughriders kicker Brett Lauther, from Truro, has been nominated for two awards in the first round of balloting for the CFL's individual honours.

He was a unanimous selection on the Riders for special-teams player, and is also the team's nominee as top Canadian.

Lauther led the CFL with 54 field goals and had the longest of the year at 56 yards.

The award recipients were selected by voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada and CFL head coaches.

The East and West Division winners will be announced on November 8, with the 2018 Shaw CFL Awards handed out on November 22 in Edmonton.
