**Updated** Search continues in Cape Breton for missing boater
**Updated at 2:31 p.m.**
A search team is scouring the Mira River in Cape Breton for a missing boater who reportedly fell overboard Monday.
Water rescue units from local fire departments, ground search and rescue, and police dive teams have located an empty fishing boat but no trace of a missing person.
Police say the boater is a man in his 50s from the Mira area, between Sydney and Louisbourg in southeastern Cape Breton, who was out recreational fishing at the time of the incident.
Staff Sgt. Phillip Ross with Cape Breton Regional Police says a witness saw the mishap and contacted police at about 7 p.m. Monday.
He says police have boats and dive teams on site, while Albert Bridge, Glace Bay and New Waterford fire departments have boats on the water and Cape Breton Search and Rescue is doing a shoreline search.
Ross says the search will continue as long as there is daylight and will wrap up at dusk, around 9 p.m.
