RCMP say a 17-year-old girl is in hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries after a crash Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the collision involving a small car and a tractor trailer around 8:30 a.m. on Pleasant Valley Road near the Highway 102 overpass.

Police say the car crossed the centre line while negotiating a curve.

The seventeen-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was extricated by the Brookfield and Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Departments, then transported by EHS to hospital in Truro before being airlifted to Halifax.

RCMP say the lone occupant of the tractor trailer was not injured and Pleasant Valley Road was closed for two hours but has since re-opened.

Police say an RCMP Collision Analyst has been contacted to assist with the ongoing investigation.
