Weather warnings ended, power outages ongoing

Environment Canada has ended all but two wind warnings for the province, but now residents are dealing with power outages.

Wind Warnings remain in place for parts of Northern Cape Breton Island, where forecasters say winds could reach speeds of 90 km/h this morning.

Nova Scotia Power says it is dealing with more than 300 power outages with about 23,000 customers without power.

On their website, the utility company says residents should stay clear of downed power lines, tree limbs that are near power lines and flooded areas.

NSP also advises to make sure you are using your back-up generator safely and to avoid using candles as emergency lighting, due to the risk of fire.
