Woman arrested after Dartmouth fires

Halifax Regional Police say a 44-year-old woman has been arrested following two fires in Dartmouth.

Officers responded to report of a fire in the lobby of an apartment building in the 200 block of Victoria Road shortly before midnight last night.

Police say a resident extinguished the fire and during their investigation, officers obtained a description of a possible suspect.

Shortly before 12:45 a.m., officers responded to report of a fire in the lobby of a second apartment building, this one in the 100 block of Albro Lake Road.

Police say the second fire was also extinguished with no residents displaced and minimal damage.

In their investigation, officers determined the fire had been deliberately set and the person responsible was of the same description as that of the suspect in the first fire on Victoria Road.

Police say a 44-year-old woman was arrested in the area and will face charges of arson and breach of probation.

She will appear in court at a later date.
