Worker sustains life-threatening injuries at Irving Shipyard: police

A 40-year-old man has been injured in an industrial accident at the Irving Shipyard in Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police say the man fell after being struck by metal from a piece of equipment Tuesday evening.

Police say the man was taken to the QEII hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

In an email to CTV Atlantic, a spokesperson for the shipyard says the injured man was a contractor who had been servicing a piece of their equipment.

The incident is currently under investigation by police, the Department of Labour and Irving Shipbuilding.
