When Holiday Decorations Go Bad!
A Texas family's Christmas display ended up the subject of a 911 call when a passerby thought a mannequin was in danger. The Heerlein family said their Austin display, inspired by the film National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, includes a dummy version of Chevy Chase's character, Clark Griswold, hanging from the roof in tribute to famous scene from the Christmas classic.
A security camera outside the home was recording when a concerned passerby mistook the dummy for a real person in danger. "Oh mister, please hold on!" the man says while trying to move a ladder that serves as part of the display. The man was unable to reach the dummy, so he called 911. Austin police quickly determined the person in danger was actually a dummy. The Heerleins have now added a sign to their display: "Clark G is part of our Christmas display please do not call 911."
It wasn't the only time that this has happened. This happened last year.....
