  • Fort Kids Summer Fun

Summer is a great time for kids to have fun and explore the natural and cultural treasures of Parks Canada’s special places. That is why Fort Wellington National Historic Site has created Fort Kids; a program designed to encourage imagination, discovery, and adventure, while learning about Canada's heritage. The popular kid’s day-program takes place on Tuesdays at Fort Wellington beginning on July 10th and runs until August 14th. Children aged 7-12 are invited to re-live history as time travellers to the War of 1812, the 1840 Rebellion, and other periods related to the fort's past. Each Tuesday presents a new and exciting theme such as Soldier Day, Pirate Day, and Archaeology Day. During the camps, children get the chance to play dress up, build their own forts and naval vessels, and enjoy the same games that children would have played 200 years ago. Each Fort Kids single day session runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants who don’t want to miss out on this historic adventure should register soon as space is limited to 20 participants each Tuesday. Register for one day, or for every Tuesday, by contacting Fort Wellington at ont-wellington@pc.gc.ca or by calling 613-925-2896. A complete list of the Fort Kids themes can be found on the Fort Wellington’s website. Parks Canada develops innovative programs, such as Fort Kids, to inspire more Canadians, including youth and newcomers, to experience the outdoors and learn about our history.
