• Nominations for Brockville & Area Music & Performing Arts Hall of Fame

    The 14th annual Brockville & Area Music & performing arts hall of fame is Thursday March 28th at the Brockville Arts Centre. The Committee is accepting nominations now until February 15th. Nominations forms are available at Mr C’s Gift of Music in the Kensington Plaza, All You need is Music on California Ave, The Brockville Arts Centre, JRfm on Stewart Blvd or in Prescott at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Office. You can also get a nomination form at the website www.brockvilleandareamusicandperformingartshalloffame.com To qualify a person should live in the area from Escott on the West to Cardinal on the east and north to Toledo. The categories are: • Teacher • Musician • Actor/Actress • Deceased • Band/performing Group/Ensemble • Production/Behind the Scenes The living members of the Hall of Fame get one vote each to decide who the 2018 inductees will be.     Mac Johnson Wildlife Area is closed due to heavy blowing snow and is not expected to reopen until Monday afternoon.     Enjoy the festivities at the 17th annual Winter Fun Day at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area. Enjoy skating on the pond, cross-country skiing, ice slide, free snowshoeing for children, live music in the nature centre by Fiddlers Plus and a BBQ/chili lunch hosted by the Friends Group. The dog sled races are back again this year by the Mush Larose Association, the race will start at 11:00 a.m. Admission is just $5.00 per car.

  • 50th Annual Brockville Girls Hockey February Freeze Tournament

    Brockville Girls Hockey Associations 50th Annual February Freeze Tournament, February 1st to February 3rd. It is being held at the Brockville Memorial Centre, Brockville Youth Arena (Friday to Sunday) and Centre 76 in Athens (Friday from 8am to 4pm). Games start 8am Friday February 1st. There are 39 teams including 3 Brockville teams, approximately 540 girls and also 4 Fundamental teams that will be playing mini games on the Saturday at the Memorial Centre from 12pm to 2pm. There will be vendors at the Memorial Centre and a silent auction at the Youth Arena with items from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canuck and Prescott native Ben Hutton and various other items.
