How to safely watch the solar eclipse

A lot of people have been asking how to see the upcoming partial solar eclipse, when the moon covers part of the sun. It’s important to be very careful when viewing the eclipse because doing so improperly could mean serious eye damage. We decided to go to an expert for advice and reached out to Dave Lane of the Astronomy and Physics Department at St. Mary’s University.
