I posted an article on the C100 facebook page yesterday from the ‘Naples Daily News’. The headline read, “Your kids should not be the most important in the family.” Was I reading it wrong? Was the author being sarcastic? I was shocked! Then I read it and while I TOTALLY see what he’s saying, I whole heartedly disagree.

While I obviously believe that the ‘hubby to be’ and I need to take time for ourselves and set an example for our Charlie, she comes first and always will.

Kids need more everything. More help, more guidance, more security and yes, more love. There. I said it. Charlies Dad knows I love him and knows that we have the rest of our lives to focus on us. Until Charlie grows up and starts her own family, she is the most important person in our life…Even after that, actually.

Does this mean that she gets everything she wants? Absolutely not. I can see how ‘putting your kids first’ can give the impression that we are raising an ‘entitled generation’ but I beg to differ. I believe that I am raising a secure, kind and thoughtful young woman who watches her Mom and Dad work for everything we have and will follow in THOSE footsteps. How can making her feel like the most important in our family be a bad thing?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
