#LifeWithCharlie - We Did It! We're 'Soother-Free!

Well, I now know why they’re called ‘SOOKIES’. HOLY HELL!

Charlie has been ‘soother-free’ for 2 weeks now. I have to say for the most part, she’s doing GREAT! I mean, if you think about it, it’s something she’s used since the day she was born. It’s all she knows! When she felt sleepy, it was there. When she was sad, it was there. When she felt shy (which doesn’t happen often), it was there. Now that it’s gone, she’s trying to learn how to cope without it and it’s kind of sad and hard to watch sometimes. A few times that I ACTUALLY almost gave it back to her! OBVIOUSLY I would NEVER but those sad little eyes and quivering lip get me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

We’ll be watching a movie, or laying down for a nap and all of the sudden she’s sucking her mouth like a soo-soo (CUTE)

Mid-melt down, she starts looking for one…”MOMMY! I’m NOT A BIG GIRL! I NEED MY SOO-SOO BACK!” (WELP)

After a few minutes of snuggles and reassurance (and sometimes a bribe) we’re back on track and she’s ready to be a ‘big girl’ again.

So if you and your little are about to begin the ‘soother-free’ transition, remember, YOU CAN DO IT!

It also doesn’t hurt to have wine on hand at ALL TIMES.
