The Vegan Diaries: Why Love One But Eat The Other campaign

Every year, thousands of animal lovers protest and sign petitions to ban the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China ( Which apparently TODAY has been banned from selling dog meat!)

Some of these people who protest though, eat meat. So why protest the mistreatment of dogs but not for the millions and millions of cows, pigs and chickens that are killed every year.

This is what the” Why Love One But Eat The Other” campaign is trying to get across. You may have seen their infamous billboard on the Bedford highway or at the Ferry Terminals. Their mission is to raise awareness about the use of animals for food, clothing, entertainment and provide information to help people become vegan.

Tamara Cox from the Vegan Education Group says ” Why Love One But Eat The Other campaign is about education and starting a conversation. We want to encourage people to ask questions, to learn how farmed animals are treated, and learn about benefits of plant based diet. We want to inspire others to make compassionate choices. Delicious vegan food and products are increasingly available in restaurants and grocery stores. Going vegan has never been easier. You can eat delicious foods, improve your health, leave a smaller carbon footprint and save animal lives."

Dogs, cats, pigs, cows, chickens all these animals feel love, compassion, pain and fear so really.. Why is it ok to eat one and not the other?

Do these billboards speak to you?
