Wines Under $20 (March 17, 2017)

Not everyone likes dessert wines. Sadly, some people never developed the love for all things sweet.  For those of us who were born with a sweet tooth, there are few things in life more satisfying than an ice cold glass of Devonian Coast Maple Wine. Picture yourself curled up in a big arm chair in front of a roaring fire with a glass of this magical wine and a slice of classic cherry cheese cake. I’m there already.

If you love the taste of maple syrup then you already know what this wine tastes like. Of course, drinking a glass of maple wine is not like drinking a glass of maple syrup. The wine is much more subtle with a just a strong suggestion of maple syrup on the palette. You might also taste caramel and butter.

I mentioned the word “magical” in describing this wine and you have to admit there is something truly magical about creating something this good from the sugary sap that flows from maple trees at this time of year. We make some really good wines in Nova Scotia and, taking its place among the very best, Devonian Coast Maple Wine is an excellent example of just how good our wines can be  ($19.98 at NSLC).
