  • Breast Cancer Walking Group - FREE Program

    The group will meet on the south side, at 411 university avenue in front of the Lady Beaverbrook rink from 12PM-1PM on Monday's and 6PM-7PM on Wednesday's. We will be walking on the Fredericton trails and the Fredericton downtown area. The group will be led by Kinesiology students with training for individuals living with cancer. Pets, loved ones and friends are able to join in on the walk as well! Anyone interested can email bcwalkinggroup@gmail.com or they can call (506) 458-7034.
  • FoodFit Program

    FoodFit is a 12-week program for low-income community members who experience barriers around healthy eating and physical activity but who are motivated to make lasting changes to their health. The program combines fun, hands-on cooking sessions and food-based activities with take-home recipes, group exercise, shared meals, and much more!   • Youth for Youth Art Event

    Youth for Youth Art When: Saturday June 22nd: Open to public at 1pm with public reception at 4:30pm Where: Beaverbrook Art Gallery RBC Room Youth for Youth Art is a community youth art event to showcase and celebrate youth artists from the area, while giving underprivileged kids the opportunity to take lessons in the Arts by supporting the Isaac's Way Children's Art Fund. 15 young talented artists from the ages of 14-20 will be showcasing their work. Artists will also have their work up for a silent auction, and half of the proceeds will go towards the Children's Fund. The showcase will be open to the public at 1pm. A reception with special guests, music, and refreshments will start at 4:30pm. Please come join us in celebrating our young artistic talent at this community event filled with music, art, and fun!
  • Handmade Market

    Handmade Market by Opal Family Services to be held on June 22, 2019 at Gibson Memorial Church (183 Gibson Street) from 10-2. Barbecue will also take place at this event. This handmade market will feature our clients, non profit partners and friends of Opal who will be displaying their handmade items. Our non profit partners can bring information to add awareness to their cause, do fundraising on their table or even have some crafts made up to sell.   • Camp Wonder

    Opal Family Services and Special Olympics New Brunswick have partnered to offer day camps through the months of July and August 2019. Camp Wonder is an inclusive day camp for children and youth with intellectual and physical disabilities. With a ratio of one camp counsellor for each child who requires this level of support, we plan to offer a safe, inclusive, and engaging program full of activities, crafts, games, and outings. We offer inclusive programming and provide assistance to meet the unique needs of our campers. The cost is $150/week for full days (9am-4pm) or $75/week for half days (9am-12pm or 1-4pm). Payment can be made by e-transfer to director@opalfamilyservices.ca or by check to Opal Family Services. Families can apply for financial support for camp through the Department of Social Development or through Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program. You can drop off your registration forms at the Opal office or apply online at www.campwonder.ca.
