Langford-Juan de Fuca is a new district, created when BC’s political map was redrawn ahead of the 2017 election. It includes the communities of Langford, Highlands, Sooke, and the Juan de Fuca region stretching all the way to Port Renfrew.

It covers similar geography to the previous Juan de Fuca riding, won by incumbent NDP candidate John Horgan in 2013 (12,338 votes) when he defeated Liberal Kerrie Reay (7,120 votes) and Green candidate Carlos Serra (3,682 votes). Horgan has been an MLA for the area since 2005.

In 2017, incumbent Horgan goes into the election as the leader of the New Democratic Party.
