Six horses died at this year’s Calgary Stampede. Is it time to chuck the chuck-wagon event at Alberta’s annual cowboy fest?

Six horses died as a result of competing at chuckwagon races this year at the Calgary Stampede.  Since 1986,102 animals have either died or have had to be euthanized at the Calgary Stampede since 1986.The majority – 72, were horses in the chuckwagon events.  This has renewed the debate about safety and animal welfare at the Stampede.  Mark spoke with Victoria Shroff, a lawyer with Shroff Animal Law, and an adjunct professor in animal law at UBC.
