Annual Victoria chalk and kite festivals will not be held in 2017

Two popular annual events in Victoria have been suspended for 2017 with organizers citing "a challenging year for their executive director" as the reason.

John Vickers is the executive director behind the Victoria International Kite Festival and the Victoria International Chalk Art Festival.

A media release sent out by Vickers explains that he feels the need to take a break this year due to challenges he has faced in the community in recent months.

The announcement the two festivals have been cancelled comes less than a month after Vickers announced his Victoria International Buskers Festival would not be held this year. That decision was made after Vickers learned in October that a collective of tourism based associations had pulled funding for the event and would be starting their own competing buskers festival this summer instead.
