Seventy million dollars in government funding has been announced for projects at two local post-secondary institutions.

The province has announced $43.5-million in combined federal and provincial government funding toward a new health-science centre at Camosun College. Camosun will provide the remaining $5-million dollars needed for a new four-storey building that will house 18 health science programs, such as nursing and community mental health.

Another $15-million dollars in government funding has been announced for a new $21.5-million dollar centre for environmental science and international partnerships at Royal Roads University.

Advanced education minister Andrew Wilkinson says the modernized facilities will give students access to learning spaces that more closely resemble workplace environments.
