Inquest into police-involved shooting on Dallas Rd. set for May
The BC Coroners Service has scheduled an inquest into the death of a 20 year old man who died in an altercation with VicPd in November 2014. Victoria police received a 9-1-1 call after Rhett Patrick Victor Mutch entered his mother's home on Dallas Rd. without permission.
Mutch suffered critical gunshot injuries in the ensuing police interaction. Paramedics tried to save him, but the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coroner Donita Kuzma will preside over the inquest at Victoria Supreme Court scheduled for May 15th. A jury will hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts surrounding the death, and may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future.
