More snow and cold weather in Greater Victoria's forecast
A special weather statement from Environment Canada has been issued for Greater Victoria, saying the South Coast is expected to get some snow on Thursday night and Friday, while the cold arctic air will continue blow into the weekend.
The statement says that a fresh infusion of arctic air is making it's way down the coast, and it will hit on Thursday, bringing moisture in the form of snow.
The snow will continue to fall on Friday, bringing a few centimetres of the cold white flakes over some regions, especially the ones at higher elevations.
The snow will start to ease Friday evening, but bitter cold winds will persist, bringing cold windchill temperatures and blowing the fresh snow around, which will reduce visibility.
Environment Canada says the hardest hit regions will be Greater Victoria, Howe Sound-Whistler, the Fraser Valley, and the southern Gulf Islands.
