Northern Junk development proposal withdrawn for now
A development that could have been contentious at Victoria City Hall disappeared from the agenda Thursday.
Reliance Properties withdrew their rezoning application for an 8-storey building at the Northern Junk property, which was scheduled to be discussed by councilors in one of their last acts before the election.
The proposal isn't dead, the developer plans to come back at a later date.
The site is right beside the new Johnson Street Bridge and contains a couple of the oldest buildings in the city, dating back to the 1860's.
Some councilors, such as Pam Madoff, have previously expressed concerns that the size of the proposal is too big for Victoria's old town area.
