One home destroyed, another badly damaged in Campbell River blaze
A home in Campbell River was destroyed by fire Tuesday night, and a neighouring home was significantly damaged.
Fire crews began getting multiple calls about 8pm, and Chief Thomas Doherty says they arrived to find a fully involved blaze:
" We arrived on scene, we had one home that was fully involved. And the fire spread to an adjacent home on the other side of it there as well, so. Four occupants in the home at the time of the fire. All escaped uninjured fortunately. The neighbouring home that also caught fire, there was one occupant in there at the time who was able to escape uninjured."
Doherty says the 4 occupants of the first home were alerted to a problem after hearing noises.
" Well they heard some noises, and looked out , and outside was fully involved in one area of the home. So, we already started our investigation process. They were very fortunate to get out. The house went up very, very quickly."
The cause has not yet been determined, but Doherty says investigation will focus on the garage area.
