Pedestrian mall trial underway on Government street
If you enjoy walking downtown, you now have another route to enjoy, unencumbered by traffic.
The City Of Victoria has a new pilot project underway downtown, creating a temporary pedestrian mall on Government street.
Rob Reid, the founder of Frontrunners Footwear, says the area near Bastion Square is a great place for the walking experiment. "We look at all the tourist who are crossing the street all the time. It just seems like a natural spot just outside Bastian square, two blocks where we can give pedestrians a different experience downtown on a Sunday afternoon."
The stretch of Government Street will be closed from Fort to Yates will close to regular traffic noon unitl 5pm every Sunday till end of September.
