Port Alberni father and son missing after going camping

A 35 year old Port Alberni father and his 3 year old son are missing after they set out for a camping trip.

It's believed Jan Stelmaszyk and his son Matt Bartnik are somewhere on Vancouver Island, and possibly in the Victoria area.

According to the family Stelmaszyk had been posting pictures to Instagram, but they have seen no new messages for 4 days.

Port Alberni RCMP say Stelmaszyk did not have a cell phone, and are asking the public to call if they spot the father and son.

Stelmaszyk is described as white, 6'2", 155 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a full beard and moustache. His son is white, three-and-a-half years old with a thin build, longer collar-length light brown hair and grey eyes.

The father is driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe with BC licence plate CL9 65H.

If you have any information call Port Alberni RCMP ( 250-723-2424) or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
