Victoria protected bike lanes getting more popular says Mayor

The Mayor of Victoria says low estimates show there are 1000 users a day on the newly opened Pandora Avenue protected bike lanes.

“The response has been very good. I think it’s taking everyone a little while to get used to it but there are a lot of excitement, a lot of smiles and lot of use,” said Lisa Helps.

Helps made the comments at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the lanes at city hall on Sunday.

Pandora Avenue is the first leg of the nearly $8 million project to bring Victoria 25 kilometres of protected bike lanes by 2022.

Fort Street is the next leg that is scheduled to go under construction.
