Victoria Shipyards to convert ships to LNG fuel

Victoria Shipyards has been chosen to do conversion work on two vessels that will employ between 300 and 400 people six days a week.

TOTE Martime Alaska chose the shipyards to complete work on two of their ships to convert them to using LNG fuel. The first ship, the 'North Star' arrived in Victoria in December 2017.

The work on the two vessels will take place in three stages in the winter months to cause as little disruption as possible.

The two ships are anticipated to be complete in 2021.
