Westshore RCMP seize weapons in trafficking investigation

Westshore RCMP's Crime Reduction unit has seized numerous weapons in a trafficking investigation.

Investigators identified a man they suspect was attempting to trade a firearm for street drugs, which led them to search a residence in Langford March 2nd.

There they seized 3 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were seized, all stored in an unsafe manner.

Among the weapons was a modified semi-automatic SKS rifle, and a prohibited 21 round magazine.

Crime Reduction Unit Constable David MacDonald says the seizure is a direct result of street level drug trafficking which affect all communities Greater Victoria.

A report recommending charges of weapons trafficking and unsafe storage of a firearm will be forwarded to Provincial Court at a later date.
