Woman under arrest in connection with suspicious Oak Bay fires

A 25 year old woman is under arrest in connection to a pair of suspicious fires in Oak Bay in late July.

It was on July 26th that police and fire officials were called to investigate 2 small fires in the 2000 block of Frederick Norris Rd.

The blazes were deemed suspicious, and Saanich Sgt. Jereme Leslie says because of a service agreement between Oak Bay and Saanich -- Saanich investigators took over:

" During the course of the investigation we identified a 25 year old Oak Bay woman as a suspect, and on August 3rd we were able to arrest her in Saanich."

The woman has been remanded in custody, and will appear in the Victoria Integrated Court system.  Leslie explains what that is:

" It is a specialized sort of court process, specifically dealing with people with some challenges."

Two other Oak Bay fires in the same area are also under investigation.  Detectives are checking all available evidence to see if there’s any connection to this case.
