Randy Renaud is a 40-year veteran of the broadcasting business, having started as a teenaged radio broadcaster in his hometown of Winnipeg, on Citi-FM. In 1987, studies for an university graduate degree brought Randy to Montreal (Concordia University) where he also began working on-air at Montreal’s legendary progressive rock station, CHOM, re-uniting with his former Citi-FM cohort Terry DiMonte.
Randy, a studious researcher and devout music geek, earned a reputation as an expert in the history of rock and blues music, while hosting popular radio programs Blue Monday (now known as The Black Cat Alley) and Rock & Roll News. Today, Randy has consolidated that role as the host of the popular Sunday evening program, Classic Vinyl Sunday, and as the writer and producer of a series of special radio features chronicling the history of rock music.
After spending five years in Toronto in the late 90s, as a television presenter on The Weather Network, Randy returned to his twin passions of Montreal and rock radio, rejoining CHOM in 2002. He also remains active in the television medium as a weather presenter on CTV Montreal. 2017 will mark Randy Renaud's 25th year with CHOM.
