Canada's Devon Sawa Gets 'Stanned' In Fred Durst Thriller

Nearly two decades after he played an obsessed fan in Eminem’s video for “Stan,” Canadian actor Devon Sawa is portraying a star who finds out how it feels to be on the other side.

In the just-released trailer for The Fanatic, Sawa is Hunter Dunbar, a famous actor who is stalked by Moose, his self-described “No. 1 fan,” played John Travolta. All he wants, he claims, is an autograph.

With the help of a paparazzo, played by Toronto singer-actress Ana Golja (Degrassi: The Next Class), Moose finds Dunbar’s home.

“You can’t just come to my private residence looking for me,” Dunbar scolds Moose. “Listen pal, I don’t know how you found me but I don’t ever want to see you in this neighbourhood again.”

Needless to say, Moose isn’t happy about this.

Sawa, who hails from Vancouver, helped make “stan” part of our modern vocabulary by starring as a rabid Eminem fan in the rapper’s 2000 “Stan” video.

The Fanatic was directed by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst from a script he co-wrote with Dave Bekerman.

It opens in cinemas on Aug. 30 before getting a digital release on Sept. 6.
