Metallica Announce 'S&M' 20th Anniversary Show
Metallica announced Monday they will mark the 20th anniversary of their live album S&M by performing with the San Francisco Symphony.
The show, S&M², will take place Sept. 6 at the city’s new Chase Center. Tickets for the general public go on sale March 22 at 10 a.m. local time.
“We’re honored to take part in the Grand Opening of the Chase Center in San Francisco as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of S&M,” read a message on Metallica’s Instagram. “Join us at what is sure to become a cultural landmark in the Bay Area.”
The 1999 album, co-produced by Canada’s Bob Rock, was recorded over two days at the Berkeley Community Theatre and was the last to feature Jason Newsted on bass. S&M (which stood for Symphony & Metallica) went on to sell more than 8 million copies.
