Ontario man walks to Halifax to fulfill dream of seeing East Coast

An Ontario man who has always dreamed of seeing Canada's East Coast is finally getting close.

Michael Sutherland loaded up his motorhome and began the journey nearly two months ago.

But when his vehicle gave out near Peterborough, Ont., he loaded up a push cart with necessities and started walking east.

With the exception of a ride across Quebec, Sutherland has been walking ever since.

He was in the Aroostook area of New Brunswick, not far from Perth-Andover, on Friday.

Sutherland tells CTV News that his feet are in terrible shape from his diabetes, but volunteer nurses from Bayshore HealthCare are meeting him every few days along the way.

His only plan one he arrives in Halifax is to take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.
