Alcohol believed to be a factor in Meduxnekeag River crash: RCMP

The Woodstock Detachment of West District RCMP have arrested a woman after a car crashed into the Meduxnekeag River in Red Bridge.

Police and the Woodstock Fire Department responded to the scene on Bell Settlement Road shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

The car was completely submerged when police arrived on scene, but RCMP say the two women inside were able to safely exit the car and were uninjured.

RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The 20-year-old woman from Woodstock has been released from custody pending a future court appearance, though police have yet to say what charges she may face.
