Annual Mayor's Supper held in Grand Falls Thursday
The Valley Chamber of Commerce's 7th Annual Mayor's Supper was held in Grand Falls Thursday night.
The mayors from Grand Falls, St. Andre, Drummond, and Saint-Leonard discussed the highlights of 2017 for their communities and what can be expected for this year.
The mayors also spoke about coming together to build a stronger economy and stronger communities.
Marcel Levesque, the mayor of St. Andre, said that co-operation between all four municipalities is essential to strengthen the local economy.
He also announced that the rural communities' new slogan is "We Are Open for Business!"
This event comes weeks after the announced closure of the Dr. Oetker plant in St. Andre.
Several new projects were also discussed at the meeting, including a Multi-Generational Park in Drummond, completion of a community park in St. Andre, road work in several areas such as Highway 108 in Drummond and Tobique Road, capital projects, and the reviewing and updating of the communities' municipal plans, emergency plans, and bi-laws.
