Deadline for project submissions under the Community Renewable Energy extended
The deadline for project submissions under the Community Renewable Energy - Local Entities Opportunity has been extended from April 28 to 3 p.m. on June 30.
The Locally-Owned Renewable Energy Small Scale Program allows municipalities, co-operatives and not-for profit groups to integrate small-scale renewable energy projects onto New Brunswick's power grid.
It was launched in January and calls for the production of 40 megawatts of electricity from renewable resources like hydro, biomass, wind and solar energy.
A maximum of 20 megawatts can be owned by one or more local entities, or 40 megawatts can be owned by two or more local entities if they're located on the same site. The generation will be added to the transmission system at 69 KV or above.
The extension comes after feedback during public information sessions with NB Power and the Department of Energy and Resource Development.
Details about the program can be found on the New Brunswick Opportunities Network website.
