Early morning fire kills hundreds of pigs and chickens in Harvey
Two hundred pigs and chickens were killed in a barn fire just outside Harvey, about 35 kilometres southwest of Fredericton this morning.
Files from the CBC reporting the Harvey Fire Department responded to the fire that broke out around 2:30 a.m Route 3.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the barn was completely engulfed by the blaze
Officials say everything was lost, and the fire was likely caused by heat lamps inside the barn.
The siding on a residence beside the barn, about 80 feet away, was also slightly damaged by the fire.
Fire officials say an elderly couple was inside the home at the time, along with two other people, but all got out safely.
