Former Canadian Armed Forces captain facing 2nd sexual assault charge

A former captain in the Canadian Armed Forces who was charged last year with sexually assaulting a fellow member at Base Gagetown is facing a second sexual assault charge at another base.

Simon Duvall, who had about 10 years of service, was charged April 21 in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a member in 2010 at CFB-Esquimalt in B.C.

The charge is under the Criminal Code of Canada but is punishable under a section of the National Defence Act, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Duvall was charged last fall in connection with the alleged assault at Base Gagetown.

He was released from the Canadian Forces in January.
