Mexican man pleads guilty to being in the U.S. after removal

A Mexican man has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to being an alien found in the United States after being refused entry into Canada.

According to court documents, 53-year-old Presiliano Gonzalez Berruete arrived at the Canada Border Services Agency in Woodstock, N.B., on Feb. 12

A news release from the U.S. Department of Justice says the Mexican native was refused entry to Canada and transported to the Houlton, Maine, Port of Entry.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection determined that Berruete had been removed from the U.S. in 2010 after being convicted of a federal felony drug trafficking offense and serving prison time.
